Neil started out as an apprentice and qualified as an advanced Carpenter/Joiner with a full indentured apprenticeship. Neil has worked in the construction industry for 28 years in total mainly in supervision. His other qualifications include Diplomas in Project management, Management and civil construction management. He has a wide range of experience working in residential, commercial, high-rise and civil construction for top tier companies such as Lend Lease and mid -tier such as Sunland, Golding and FK Gardner.

Neil and his family have been living on the Gold Coast for 9 years, they love the outdoor lifestyle, great climate and friendly people.

Karin Evans

Book Keeper / Office ManagerKarin Evans

Karin has been working in the building industry for the past 25 years. Before moving to Australia in 1998, she and her husband ran a business in the UK manufacturing timber structures such as sheds, garages, carports, stables etc. Since moving to Australia, Karin has worked for a variety of businesses in her capacity as a contract Book Keeper (primarily manufacturing and building companies), focusing on accuracy and compliance.

Karin manages all accounts, administration and assists with the initial contact with clients for Smith & Sons Gold Coast Central.

 

 

I enjoy watching the new trends come along in the building industry and seeing the transformation of client’s homes. And, of course, I also enjoy working with the many characters of the building industry!

Kendon Mullett

Supervisor/Head CarpenterKendon Mullett

Kendon is a Qualified Carpenter who has successfully completed his Apprenticeship Excelling at his craft.  He has an extensive knowledge of the building industry and an eye for detail.  He has a great work ethic and experience in both domestic and commercial projects including architectural and heritage work.

Kendon and his family moved to the Gold Coast 2 years ago from Melbourne and have never looked back! They love the climate and the beachside lifestyle.

Donal Hegarty

Electrician/Trade AssistantDonal H

Donal is a qualified electrician with 7 years’ experience across residential, commercial and industrial electrical systems.  His experience has included fault finding, panel wiring, construction and installation as well as the reading and interpretation of specifications and drawings. He will be completing electrical work for Smith and Sons Gold Coast Central as well as working as a trade assistant.  He prides himself on his attention to detail and strong work ethic.

Donal moved to the Gold Coast in September 2014 with his young family. He loves competing in triathlons, fishing and football. He one day hopes to play for Manchester United.

Griffin Kirwan

Apprentice griffin

Griffin just started his school based apprenticeship a month ago with Smith & Sons Gold Coast Central. He is also completing a Certificate II in Engineering at school.

Griffins role as an apprentice involves being out on the job site and working hard to make sure the site is always clean and tidy so that all the other trades can work efficiently and are in a safe environment. He also assists the Smith & Sons Gold Coast Central onsite team and other trades, learning important skills along the way.
